Heather Jones: soap star, singing sensation, divorcee pushing 40. Tonight, Heather’s dumping her Miss America image for the real deal: “I’m not nice anymore!” Heather’s long-time manager, Joe, shows up to check out the new act. Backed by a live rock and roll band, Heather brings to life her 1950’s upbringing, her failed marriage, the foibles of dating and the chauvinism of showbiz through catchy pop tunes, torchy ballads and witty vignettes. And Heather’s determined to take this show on the road. But Joe doesn’t think that her public—or he—is ready for the “Strong Woman Number.” Their showdown leads to one hell of an act.

Steeplechase Productions , Liberty Deli and Sabrina Prielaida announce the return of Gretchen Cryer and Nancy Ford’s 1978 landmark feminist musical, I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking it on the Road. Directed by Heather Louise Parker (Fool for Love, We Are Not Good Girls, Into the Blue, The Maids), this production stars Sabrina Prielaida as Heather Jones and Scott Nath as Joe. I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking it on the Road debuted twenty-four years ago, and times have changed—but just how much? The Heather Joneses of Greenwich Village, 1978 and Seattle, 2002 may have more in common than even they might guess.

I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking it on the Road runs at Liberty Deli, a popular dinner theater on Alki Beach, for six weekends this summer. Don’t miss it.
